MK Search is currently working with a dynamic and growing chemical distribution company based in Los Angeles, CA.

Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Finance Controller to oversee the financial operations of our client company. This key leadership role will report directly to the VP Finance and will be responsible for managing the finance team, ensuring accurate financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Reporting: Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Lead the annual budgeting process, including setting targets, preparing budgets, and ongoing forecasting to track financial performance against objectives.
  • Cost Control & Analysis: Monitor and control costs related to chemical inventory, transportation, warehousing, and distribution. Conduct variance analysis and provide insights to optimize expenses.
  • Financial Planning: Develop financial models to support strategic decision-making, including pricing strategies, margin analysis, and market expansion plans.
  • Cash Flow Management: Manage company cash flow, including monitoring receivables, payables, and working capital requirements to ensure financial stability.
  • Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and industry-specific financial regulations. Implement internal controls to mitigate financial risks.
  • Team Leadership: Manage, mentor, and develop a team of finance professionals, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or CMA certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in finance, with at least 3 years in a Controller or similar role, ideally in the chemical distribution industry
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Experience in managing inventory accounting and cost analysis in a distribution environment.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong leadership and team management experience.
