Job Description:

Education / Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree, preferably in finance, financial planning, accounting, economics, or tax
  • Preferred designations: MBA, CFA, CFP, or CHFC
  • Prefer 2-5 years experience as a financial analyst or financial counselor in a wealth management environment

Knowledge and Skills Requirements:

  • Desire to establish new relationships and build business
  • Advanced knowledge of financial counseling, including financial security, investments, income taxes, estate planning, insurance, retirement options, corporate compensation and employee benefits
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to quickly grasp changing situations and react appropriately
  • Demonstrated social presence and social awareness
  • Willing and able to learn and adapt to new situations and responsibilities
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated desire to reach out to people, understand their needs and maintain frequent contact
  • Desire to continually learn and work hard
  • Superior organizational skills, attention to detail, follow-through and accuracy
  • Ability to travel about 40% of the time

Responsibilities:

  • Provide financial counseling and investment management services to AMG clients that meet AMG's standards and practices
  • Maintain highly respected and confidential relationships with AMG clients
  • Maintain the highest level of client satisfaction with AMG's services
  • Take initiative, provide valued advice and be proactive with clients
  • Develop new business; obtain and follow up on referrals to new clients; use prospect database appropriately
  • Fully understand and help market the full array of AMG's services
  • Help build AMG's image in the community
  • Understand and be able to explain AMG's methodologies, economic scenarios and recommendations
  • Contribute to effective and efficient firmwide financial counseling practices, as requested
  • Maintain highly effective and respectful working relationships with AMG staff of all levels
  • Manage and supervise any professional and support reporting staff in a manner designed to meet client, employee and firm needs
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all investment and financial counseling-related subject areas
  • Effectively set and communicate priorities
  • Regularly attend and participate in conference calls and staff meetings
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude, self-motivation, hard work, follow-through, high-quality work, accuracy, attention to detail
  • Exercise effective judgment
  • Adapt to changes and new responsibilities
  • Other duties as assigned
