Number of Vacancies: 1 Area of Consideration: Open To The Public Employment Status: Full Time, Temporary Pay Plan, Series & Grade : DS0058/7 Salary Range: Up To $68,641 Closing Date: Open Until Filled Location: 4200 Connecticut Ave NW, Washington, DC 20008 Brief Description of Duties The Assistant Director of Financial Aid assists the Director of Financial Aid in the overall management of the Financial Aid Office and perform related work as required. The position also works under the administrative direction of the Director of Financial Aid who provides direction in terms of broad and specific policy objectives. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assists the director with the day-to-day management of office operations. Serves as Acting Director in the absence of the Director of Financial Aid. Assists with planning, organizing, determining student financial aid needs and implementing appropriate strategies. Assists with ensuring accurate, timely and consistent awarding of all financial aid funds. Counsels and advises incoming and continuing students regarding the financial aid process and their status. Assists with managing the resolution of student aid problems and recommends appropriate solutions. Assists with developing, implementing, executing student aid procedures and coordinates these functions with all relevant university offices. Assists with preparing a variety of narrative and statistical reports required by the university and external agencies. Assists with preparing, monitoring and implementing financial aid related budgets in accordance with federal, state, and university guidelines. Assists with ensuring that policies and procedures in the office are administrated in accordance with university, Federal and District standards. Keeps abreast of all current Federal and other regulations and guidelines pertaining to student aid programs. Assists with planning and implementing student aid workshops, Law Day, and other outreach programs as assigned. Performs other related duties as assigned. Minimum Job Requirements Bachelors degree A minimum of three (3) years of experience administering financial aid. Information to Applicant Condition of Employment: This is a sponsored program appointment. The duration of this appointment is subject to grant fund availability. Collective Bargaining Unit (Non-Union): This position is not in the collective bargaining unit.
