Position Summary/Purpose of Position: The University of Maryland's Division of Administration has an exciting and unique opportunity for an experienced Finance Coordinator. The role is a key contributor to the division's shared business services office which provides consistent, high-quality budget, finance and human resources to support the Division's 1,400 employees. The position reports to the Assistant Director of Business and Financial Services, works with the Business & Financial Services team and other staff across the division on day-to-day financial matters including transactions, contracts and MOUS, financial research, personnel data maintenance and preparing, analyzing and maintaining a variety of records, reports, documents and presentations. The Financial Management Coordinator ensures the division is following rules and regulations established by the university and GAAP. The ideal candidate demonstrates excellent judgment, is highly organized with attention to detail , offers a high sense of urgency to complete requests and deadlines, quickly understands business/technical issues, enjoys prioritizing and handling a high volume and variety of tasks, and manages responsibilities independently to conclusion. - Four (4) or more years of experience using accounting and business practices which include budgeting, financial analysis, accounting, contract management and/or purchasing.
- Successful experience using reference and research methods and techniques for collecting, compiling, and organizing data and information, analytical and statistical principles and techniques.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Highly proficient in reconciliation techniques and data integrity verification, and analytical and mathematical skills, including statistical and financial analysis methods and procedures.
- Ability to communicate business information to non-technical stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to independently handle multiple tasks and set priorities in a high paced environment.
- Highly organized with attention to detail and deadlines, enjoy prioritizing and handling a high volume and variety of daily tasks.
- Ability to quickly understand business/technical issues; excellent problem-solving skills; manage responsibilities independently to conclusion.
