Job Description The Financial Planning & Reporting Analyst, Senior or Financial Planning & Reporting, Lead is a member of the Assistant Comptroller's Office. The Financial Planning & Reporting Analyst, Senior is responsible for ongoing financial report design, reporting process development, and delivery of meaningful financial insights. Gathers, aggregates, and analyzes a wide range of operating and financial information to develop short-term and long-term university business plans. Transforms financial and business data into actionable information to make sound decisions and drive business value. The Financial Planning & Reporting Analyst, Lead is responsible for planning and analysis to provide management with financial data, insights and recommendations to pursue strategic finance objectives. Gathers, aggregates, and analyzes a wide range of operating and financial projections and directs the development of short-term and long-term university business plans to provide financial management support utilizing business intelligence and automation. Responsible for ongoing financial report designs, reporting process development, and delivery of meaningful financial insights to make sound decisions and drive business value. Financial Planning & Reporting Analyst, Senior Financial Analysis & Report Development- 40%
  • Analyzes financial data to model business and operational scenarios.
  • Designs and creates meaningful graphical reports highlighting patterns and trends in data, providing meaningful information, and supplying insights to management.
  • Delivers reporting solutions aggregating data to visualize trends and decomposing data to identify activity drivers including financial data to plans, forecasts, and budgets, evaluating areas of divergence.
  • Performs research and conducts sophisticated financial analysis to provide administration with data, information, and recommendations.
  • Works across departmental boundaries to seek information and input in variance analysis.
Financial Reporting - 4 0%
  • Responsible for the financial reporting function including the timely and accurate preparation of consolidated annual financial statements and participation in the annual state audit process.
  • Assists in standard and ad hoc financial reporting to outside entities including ABOR, the State of Arizona, the Arizona Auditor General, and other local, state, and federal regulating bodies.
  • Supports creation of internal reporting packages including monthly fiscal oversight reporting at the institutional level.
  • Responsible for University compliance with all regulatory, and tax reporting requirements.
Report Automation & Efficiency Identification - 15%
  • Collaborates with finance professionals, business analysts, and stakeholders to design, develop and deliver efficient, effective reporting solutions.
  • Identifies and recommends solutions for streamlining and improving the operations of the organization.
Other - 5%
  • All Ad hoc reporting to support the mission of the Comptroller's office.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Financial Planning & Reporting Analyst, Lead Financial Analysis & Report Development - 40%
  • Identifies and implements business intelligence and reporting solutions, and analyzes complex, financial data to model business and operational scenarios at the institutional level.
  • Designs and creates meaningful graphical reports highlighting patterns and trends in data, providing meaningful information, and supplying insights to management.

Minimum Qualifications Financial Planning & Reporting Analyst, Senior
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
  • 3-5 years of accounting or finance experience.
  • Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement or experience requirement.

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
  • 5-7 years of accounting or finance experience.

  • Starting salary $83,312. Annual salary commensurate with candidate's qualifications and related experience.
FLSA Status This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and therefore will not earn overtime or compensatory time for additional time worked.Benefits This is a Classified Staff (CLS) position.
