American Income Life is looking for an experienced Financial Reporting Accountant to join the team!In this role, you will be responsible for the preparation of internal and external financial reports, financial analysis, preparing journal entries, account reconciliations and researching exceptions, statutory accounting, GAAP accounting and assisting in the preparation of US and Foreign financial reporting.This is a hybrid position located in Waco, TX (WFH Monday & Friday, In Office Tuesday-Thursday)What You Will Do:
- Assist in preparation of consolidated financial statements at subsidiary level.
- Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and consolidate at both GAAP and statutory levels.
- Ability to research FASB and NAIC guidance and document accounting position.
- Staying apprised of current GAAP and statutory accounting guidance and upcoming proposed guidance.
- Assist in the documentation and process flows of accounting policies.
- Work with external auditor requests.
- Assist with automation and modernization of accounting and financial reporting tools.
- Special projects with Vice President, Controller.
What You Can Bring:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting required.
- Public accounting experience preferred.
- Proven ability to develop, document, maintain operations policies and procedures, including designing and documenting detailed process flows.
- Experience with Microsoft Excel.
- Workiva or other similar reporting tools experience a plus.
- Previous insurance accounting experience a plus.
- Foreign exchange accounting and reporting a plus.
- IFRS experience a plus.
- Highly motivated individual with strong work ethic.
- Ability to multi-task and work independently.
- Strong analytical skills, accuracy, and attention to detail are critical.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong use of Microsoft Office applications such as Excel and Power Pivot.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while managing financial reporting priorities and fast deadlines.
