Arcetyp LLC is performing recruiting for this position.We are recruiting a Financial Secretary to be employed by the First Mount Zion Baptist Church onsite in Dumfries VA on a full-time basis.Apply principles of accounting to perform the daily financial duties of the office. This includes processing payables and receivables posting entries to church management software. Process bi-monthly payroll. Analyze financial information and prepare official financial reports by compiling information using Microsoft Office 365. Prepare financial statements and accounting of expenditures. Knowledge and experience in non-profit accounting procedures highly desirable. Other duties include assignments consistent with the administrative office environment. Applicant must be a person of honesty and integrity, good interpersonal and communication skills, and ability to work in tandem with Church Leadership and in support of ministry activity. Applicant must have a current drivers' license and must undergo a credit check and bonding procedures.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: Reports to the office of the Church Business Administrator. Works and supports work of the First Mount Zion Baptist Church (FMZBC) Accountant, Trustee Treasurer and Finance Committee; performs and records church accounting work, including budgeting, auditing, analyzing, and verifying fiscal records and reports. Prepare financial analysis and statistical reports, providing information to the FMZBC Trustee Finance Committee regarding accounting practices and procedures. Reconcile general ledger accounts; assist in preparing the church's financial calendar and the annual and mid-year budgets; prepare year-end audit reports and schedules. Prepare and when requested will present financial reports at Trustee, church, and call meetings as required.Related work includes (Duties are not inclusive and may vary):- Prepare weekly and monthly tithe and offering statements, and cost accounting reports- Monitor and review accounting and related system reports for accuracy and completeness- Prepare and review budget, revenue, expense, payroll entries, invoices, and other accounting documents- Input financial data to generate reports for FMZBC's automated financial systems-Maintain and timely execution of payment schedules of contracts and recurring expense- Keep record of all church expenditures. Preparing journal entries and reconciliation of general ledger and subsidiary accounts; preparing monthly financial statements- Assist in the preparation of the annual and mid-year budgets.- Assists with the fiscal year-end and fixed asset accounting- Write checks for vendors and members-Prepare weekly purchase requisitions and input financial software-Generate and mail approve checks- Work with church accountant to reconcile collection documentation with monthly bank deposits- Verify bank processed deposits agree with church Financial Data Sheets- Produce Balance Sheets and Income and Expense Reports- Monitor and record Stewardship Envelope contributions-Post weekly contributions-Process bi-weekly payroll-Process payments associated with employment benefits-Post cash and electronic contribution-Coordinate reconciliation of monthly credit card statements-Perform other office duties as assigned.KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS. Knowledge, Skill, or experience:- Finance, accounting, budgeting, principles.- Financial and accounting software applications.- Prepare financial reports, statements.- Budgeting practices and principles.- Computer applications related to the work; and- Standard office practices and procedures.-Assist with benefits administrationEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Graduation from a two or four-year college or university with coursework in accounting, finance, economics or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the related work duties. Experienced in working with automated fund accounting systems. Experience with church management software highly desirable.WORK HOURS: Full-time Exempt. 40-hour work week. Monday-Friday, 9:00am- 5:00pmWORKING CONDITIONS: Office environment, occasional weekend and/or evening work required. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule if needed to meet routine deadlines.
