We are recruiting for Financial Specialist to fill any current and future vacancies over the next 6 months. Current Vacancies: Columbia Correctional Institution, Portage; Gordon Correctional Center, Gordon; Milwaukee Secure Detention Facility, Milwaukee; Wisconsin Correctional Center System, Central Office, Madison; A casual office atmosphere, flexible work schedules, and up to three days per week of telework depending on the position's requirements. To help you understand what the benefits are worth, please see the Total Rewards Calculator at Position Summary These Financial Specialist positions typically work with inmate/offender accounts and payroll; some positions may, in addition, work with a variety of other institution/facilities accounts, or work specifically with inmate/offender and/or payroll accounts to a lesser degree, as follows: • Provision of accurate and timely transactions in inmate accounts and disbursement of money • Maintenance of inmate payroll program, including weekly time sheets and auditing time reports • Computation of adjustments and calculation • Posting receipt of inmate/offender and institution cash funds • Updating/preparation of spreadsheets and other reports/statements • Payment of invoices • Correspondence or other communications with staff, vendors, inmates and others • Reconciliation of bank statements; establishing and closing bank accounts • Researching and responding to inmate and DOC staff information requests • Utilization of computerized financial programs for reports, information, and financial records Salary Information The starting pay for this position is $21.66 per hour and includes a comprehensive state benefits package. This position is in pay schedule and range 02-11. Pay on appointment for current or former state employees may vary according to the applicable provisions of the State Compensation Plan, Statutes and Administrative Code. A 12 month probationary period is required. Job Details Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e. a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application. The Department of Corrections may conduct pre-employment drug screens. Any applicant who is offered employment in a position which requires a pre-employment drug screen must pass the screen as a contingency of employment. The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting.
