Overview:
The Financial Specialist is responsible for assisting Community Wellness Partners' customers with understanding the financial responsibility for their stay at Presbyterian Home for CNY or Katherine Luther Residential HealthCare.
Responsibilities:
Job duties specific to this position:
+ Responsible for meeting with residents/family members upon admission and communicating insurance benefits and private pay responsibility.
+ Responsible for assisting residents/family members in securing government entitlement benefits (ie. Medicaid).
+ Responsible for collecting, in a timely manner, appropriate documentation from the residents/family members for the Medicaid application
+ Completes the timely filing of Medicaid applications on behalf of Community Wellness Partners' customers referred to or identified by the Finance Department.
+ Tracks pending applications to ensure application due dates/deadlines are met for compliance. Notifies CFO or Controller of any identified barriers in securing eligibility.
+ Works with the A/R Representatives to identify residents who may need help with securing entitlement benefits.
+ Issues NAMI notifications to pending applicants. Notifies CFO or Controller of applicants not complying.
+ Requests application be made for representative payee of resident's social security, SSI, VA or pension benefits when appropriate.
Qualifications:
+ Previous knowledge of all government entitlement eligibility requirements and working experience in a similar position within a health facility, SNF and/or Home Health desired.
+ Strong communication and writing skills. Ability to compose professional and accurate emails.
+ Proficient with MS Office and able to learn new software rapidly.
+ An equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed above may be substituted for the above education and experience requirements.
