  • Lateral Entry Available!
  • Firefighter/Paramedic Salary Range: $75,411 - $94,781
  • Additional pay available for advanced certifications and education!
  • TMRS Retirement Plan (Employee contributes 7% pre-tax, City provides 2 to 1 matching, vesting after 5 years, with option of retirement, at any age, with 20 years of service).
  • Voluntary Deferred Compensation Plans available through MissionSquare and Nationwide.
How You Add Value
  • Ability to perform firefighting and fire prevention activities in protecting life and property.
  • Successfully maintain and operate firefighting apparatus and equipment.
  • Provide medical assistance and Advanced Life Support first responder pre-hospital emergency medical care and assistance to victims.
  • Perform minor station maintenance.
  • Participate in a variety of training to maintain skills.

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Candidates must be at least 19 years of age.
  • Candidates must possess a valid driver's license. Candidates that do not possess a Class B Texas license must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Class B license.
  • Candidates must possess Texas Department of Health Services Paramedic Certification or National Registry Paramedic Certification or be currently enrolled in a national registry paramedic program.
  • Texas Commission on Fire Protection Certification preferred, but not required. Candidates not currently certified will be sent to the Fire Academy.
  • Out of State Candidates may be considered, if Paramedic Certified, and the state in which they are currently certified offers reciprocity with Texas.
  • Candidates must upload proof of certification or national registry paramedic program enrollment to the online application to receive further consideration.
