General Overview: The First-Aid Safety Technician will function as a part of the First Aid and Response Program to aid with all First Aid needs and support operations as needed. This position responds to situations needing medical assistance on site, evaluates the injured worker, and provides the appropriate level of first aid. This role also provides support and assistance with safety initiatives, training, and compliance and promotes a culture of safety through awareness, education and engagement.Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Promotes a culture of Safety, Accountability and Excellence
- Assesses the injury or medical emergency and provides first aid and/or refers to an outside medical provider as appropriate. Transports injured worker to appropriate medical facility, as necessary.
- Greets all new hires during New Hire Orientation or through one-on-one interaction.
- Manages and maintains first aid supplies, equipment and PPE, replenishing as needed.
- Monitors and ensures appropriate medical supply inventory is maintained.
- Minimizes the risk of injury through awareness, education, and proactive engagement.
- Assists with creating and maintaining records of incidents and the care provided.
- Manages and maintains first aid supplies, equipment and PPE.
- Conducts safety inspections on first aid equipment, fire extinguishers, PPE and other safety related items; corrects or replaces deficient items as appropriate.
- Participates in inspections and weekly case management review meetings.
- Maintains safety, inspection, emergency response, and supply checklists.
- Functions as point person for medical emergencies.
- Assists the Environmental Safety and Health Manager with various safety training.
- Observes and reports at-risk work behavior and conditions.
- Maintains a clean, sanitary and orderly environment.
- Actively attends and participates in the Safety Committee Meetings; leads the committee as appropriate.
- Participate in special projects and tasks as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Education Required:
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- A current valid Emergency Medical Technician Basic license from the State of Missouri, Department of Health is required; must be able to maintain such license.
- A valid card/certification of completion of a first aid, CPR, and AED course from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross is required.
- Must have a current valid Class E driver's license; must be able to maintain it as current and valid.
- Certified to teach first aid, CPR, and AED training from American Heart Association or American Red Cross is a plus.
- Demonstrates a passion for promoting health and wellness.
- Fire and other emergency response experience is beneficial.
- Forklift certification and experience is a plus.
- Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively and collaboratively with all levels of staff.
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word.
- Familiar with OSHA regulations.
- Ability to multitask and demonstrates exceptional time management skills.
- Maintains composure during an emergency.
