The position: The first-grade teacher serves as the lead educator of first-grade students and shares abundant space in a co-teaching environment with the Kindergarten teacher and students. Small class sizes and plentiful resources create an atmosphere that provides an outstanding educational experience. Comprehensive social studies and science themes guide the curriculum. Through hands-on experiences, the teacher works to make learning come to life for the students in magical ways. The large overarching units provide endless opportunities for the integration of math, reading, writing, and spelling, offering purposeful and meaningful learning. Lessons in these areas are often prepared for small-group instruction, providing for differentiated learning. Requirements

Duties and Responsibilities
- Motivate and instruct students in the subject areas included in the School's curriculum in harmony with the stated philosophy of the School
- Prepare lessons, units, and materials to achieve above
- Nurture social and emotional development of each student
- Participate fully in the School's calendar of days and events
- Engage actively in curriculum development, design, and execution
- Cooperate and communicate with parents, staff, and School on the progress of each student's growth and development
- Accurately report student's progress regularly to parents and administration
- Participate actively in professional growth and development programs
- Attend and actively participate in all school meetings (e.g., staff, team, and committee meetings)
- Cooperate with other staff and parents in providing a superior educational experience for each student
- Encourage and help each student realize his/her unique potential
- Collegial relationship with fellow faculty and staff
- Teaching face-to-face or remote as requested by the administration
