First Vice President of Commercial Banking

Job Overview: Our Denver, CO financial client is seeking to add a NEW First Vice President of Commercial Banking to their team. This role involves coordinating efforts across various business lines and collaborating with credit and operations teams to underwrite, originate, service, monitor, and collect commercial loans, while also enhancing depository, Treasury Management, and Wealth Management relationships. The ideal candidate will serve as a visible leader in the community and embody core operating principles. This is a Direct Hire role.

What you will be doing as a First Vice President of Commercial Banking:

  • Maintain proactive, regular contact with customers and prospective clients to gain a thorough understanding of their business needs, performance, and goals.
  • Develop and nurture a network of professional relationships, including accountants, attorneys, and other influencers.
  • Collaborate across the bank to promptly address customer inquiries and resolve issues.
  • Conduct joint meetings with other officers to strengthen and expand client relationships.
  • Advocate effectively and ethically for both the bank and clients, ensuring clear communication of expectations.
  • Foster timely and effective communication with internal departments, particularly Credit Administration, to maintain a clear view of revenue opportunities and risks.
  • Drive revenue growth through relationship-focused initiatives, including:
    • Generating high-quality loan outstanding's for new and existing customers.
    • Increasing deposit funding, particularly with non-interest-bearing accounts and personal accounts for employees of commercial clients.
    • Creating additional revenue through loan fees and non-interest income services such as Treasury Management and Wealth Management.
    • Making qualified referrals for all business lines.
  • Keep accurate records of customer interactions and business development activities using the bank's CRM software.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the bank's credit policies, risk management strategies, and relevant regulations.
  • Utilize robust financial analysis to evaluate loan requests and the financial health of current and potential borrowers.
  • Collaborate with Credit Administration to ensure a consistent and accurate assessment of risk profiles for borrowers.
  • Apply knowledge of prudent loan structuring when reviewing existing commitments and proposing new loans.
  • Demonstrate expertise in loan documentation, working with internal and external partners to negotiate and finalize complex transactions.
  • Support customers in fulfilling their obligations, including payments and compliance with reporting and covenants.
  • Develop and implement collection and risk mitigation strategies with other bank departments to minimize potential losses.
