Job Description:

Ensure timely and accurate payment of the college's obligations and related filings.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Provide excellent customer service while assisting departments, students, and vendors with account information and accounting procedures.

* Review and process purchase orders and requisitions, invoice vouchers and voucher distribution forms.

* Identify and resolve discrepancies in records or documents including researching records and making necessary adjustments. Communicate issues and resolutions to college departments and vendors as needed.

* Verify fiscal reports for accuracy.

* Analyze, prepare, review and enter journal vouchers.

* Prepare and interpret reports for management. Review automated reports for accuracy.

* Sort and file records, reports, copies of checks issued and other accounting documents.

* Assist in the accounting year-end close process.

* Provide input on internal controls and protection of college assets.

Minimum Qualifications:

* Associate's degree which includes 18 quarter or 12 semester hours in accounting and one to two years of experience in the accounts payable function in a complex environment OR equivalent combination of education and experience

* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Access, Word and Excel

* Experience providing excellent customer service to internal and external customers

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills

* Experience researching and successfully resolving accounts payable issues

* Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision

* Knowledge of sales and use tax

Preferred Qualifications:

* Experience working in a community college or other higher education setting

Work Hours:

Monday through Friday. Summer schedule may be condensed to Monday through Thursday.
