MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:Responsibilities include planning, developing, implementing, and reviewing the fiscal management functions for the Broome-Tioga BOCES as well as the Management Support Services. Provides support to the Fiscal Services Administrators and the Business Office team regarding best practices, including improvements with processes and procedures.Job QualificationsREQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Graduation from a regionally accredited or NYS registered college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in accounting, business or public administration, economics or related field, including or supplemented by 18 semester credit hours in accounting, and two years experience maintaining financial accounts and records, performing accounting and/or auditing; ORCompletion of a minimum of 60 semester credit hours at a regionally accredited or NYS registered college or university including or supplemented by 18 semester credit hours in accounting and four years of the experience as described in A) above; ORGraduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma and six years of experience as described in A) and B); ORAn equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of A), B), and C) above.Broome County Civil Service examination requiredAccounting: Is the art of recording, classifying, verifying and reporting financial data and presenting an analysis or interpretation of their significance. Its function is to provide quantitative information, primarily financial in nature, about economic entities that are intended to be useful in making economic decisions and in making reasoned choices among alternate courses of action. It includes the preparation of financial statements and schedules.Auditing: Is the art of confirming financial statements for the purpose of expressing an opinion that these statements fairly represent the financial condition of the enterprise and its operating results and, further that these statements are presented to conform with generally accepted accounting standards consistently. A brief definition of auditing might also be the art of documenting the veracity of financial data.
