Nature of Work
Wildlife/Spring Run Fish Hatchery Under general supervision of the Fish Culturist 3 at the Spring Run State Fish Hatchery, the Fish and Wildlife Technician 2 performs skilled work in hatching, growing and distributing fish, and general maintenance of fish hatchery buildings, grounds, and equipment. Work includes spawning, grading, weighing, monitoring growth, fish condition, and overall health of hatchery reared fish. Loads fish into hauling tanks on trucks, transports fingerlings and catchable size fish, and releases them into specific waters. Work can be physically demanding and performed in varying climatic conditions. Employee may be required to be a lead worker to small groups on specific projects. Employee will be required to obtain a Class B Commercial Driver's License with tank endorsement. Performs related work as required.Regular attendance is required.

Minimum Qualifications
Training: Associate of Science degree from a regionally accredited college or university in fish or wildlife management, natural resources management, fish culture, agriculture or related field.
OR
Substitution: High school diploma or the equivalent.
AND
Experience: Four (4) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in fish or wildlife management, fish culture or agriculture.
Special Requirement: A valid driver's license is required. May be required to obtain a
commercial driver's license. May be required to successfully complete special natural resource police officer training and pistol qualification requirements as established by the Division of Natural Resources, Law Enforcement Section.
Preference will be given to candidates with fish culture and fish handling experience. Preference also given to candidates with experience in farming, equipment operation, and trade skills.
