The Baltimore County Department of Recreation and Parks is accepting applications for Fishing Center Assistant Managers - Loch Raven Fishing Center Summer Seasonal Employment.

Schedule: 40 hours per week - Summer Seasonal

Several temporary summer seasonal vacancies exist in the Department of Recreation and Parks at various locations throughout Baltimore County.

Seasonal temporary positions are not classified within the Baltimore County Government Classification and Compensation Plan.

Location: Must have reliable transportation. Facilities are not located on public transportation lines.

Loch Raven Fishing Center is located at 12101 Dulaney Valley Road, Phoenix, Maryland 21131.

Definition of Responsibility

This position is responsible for assisting with the operation and supervision of an assigned beach, park, or other facility.

Examples of Duties

Job Purpose

Under direct supervision,will assist with the operation and supervision of the Loch Raven FishingCenter.

Examples of Essential Job Duties

* Assist in supervising, scheduling and training seasonal staff.

* Assist in maintaining inventory of supplies and equipment.

* In the absence of supervisor, exercise and perform all manager duties.

* Monitor cashiers and verify transactions, daily report and deposits for the day.

* Make bank deposits.

* Assist customers as situations arise.

* customers as situations arise.

* Supervise rentals of watersports equipment.

* Supervise and lead programs.

* Enforce facility rules and regulations to the public.

* Keep facilities clean and free from hazards and litter.

* Collect day fees, season passes, and memberships using a cash register for all financial transactions.

* Verify transactions, daily report and deposits for the day.

* Proper check in and placement of visiting groups.

* Answering phones and giving accurate park information.

* Alerting patrons to changing weather and water conditions.

* Perform routine tasks as assigned. (Such as cleaning bathrooms, removing trash from barrels, cleaning grills and grounds and minor maintenance.)

* Lead watersports rentals, registrations, instructions, and programs for the visiting public

* and organized groups.

* Prepare and break down daily rentals of boats and watersports equipment.

Examples of Other Duties

Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications

The following must be achieved by April 1, 2025, for employment Summer of 2025

Must be at least 18 years of age by April 1, 2025

Must be able to work weekends and holidays throughout the summer and have days off on the weekdays

Must have reliable transportation

Facilities are not located on public transportation lines

Must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug test

Preferred Consideration

Applicants having the ability work the entire season, from Memorial Day to Labor Day, will be considered first

Licenses and Certificates

Must have current American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED by April 1, 2025

If not certified as an American Canoe Association Paddlesports Safety Facilitator, must be able to attend training arranged by Baltimore Countyor be certified privately prior to opening day, April 4, 2025

Must have valid Boater Safety Certification by April 1, 2025

EXAMINATION PROCEDURE

Applicants will be qualified based on an evaluation of their training and experience, as stated on their application, which includes answers to the supplemental questions. Applicants must state the dates and duties of past and present experience clearly and completely for evaluation purposes

Conditions of Employment

Applicants having the ability work the entire season, from Memorial Day to Labor Day, will be considered first.

Physical and Environmental Conditions

Must have reliable transportation

Facilities are not located on public transportation lines

Must be able to work weekends and holidays throughout the summer and have days off on the weekdays

Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

Applicants selected for employment with Baltimore County must successfully complete an employment investigation, including, but not limited to criminal background, education certification and fingerprinting checks.
