The Fitness Director is responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and administration of the Silo Ridge Field Club fitness programs and services. Located in beautiful Amenia, New York, just two hours north of New York City, the role is a senior leader within Silo Ridge, is instrumental in maintaining member satisfaction, and ensuring that all fitness activities align with the organization's goals. The Fitness Director will also play a key role in marketing the facility's programs and services to attract new members and retain current ones. The Fitness Director will also play a key role in marketing the facility's programs and services to attract new members and retain current ones. Key Responsibilities: Program Development and Management:
- Design and implement diverse fitness programs for various member groups, including group fitness classes, personal training, and specialty programs.
- Regularly assess program effectiveness and member feedback to refine and improve offerings.
- Ensure programs are inclusive and cater to different fitness levels and goals.
Staff Management:
- Recruit, train, supervise, and mentor fitness staff, including personal trainers, group fitness instructors, and support staff.
- Schedule staff shifts, oversee performance, and conduct regular evaluations.
- Foster a collaborative, motivated team environment focused on providing excellent customer service.
Facility Operations:
- Ensure the fitness facility is well-maintained, clean, and adheres to health and safety regulations.
- Manage fitness equipment maintenance and replacement schedules.
- Work with management to ensure smooth day-to-day operations and resolve any member or staff concerns.
Member Engagement and Retention:
- Develop initiatives to increase member engagement and retention, such as fitness challenges, wellness workshops, and personal training packages.
- Actively communicate with members, assess their fitness goals, and provide guidance on programs that meet their needs.
- Monitor member participation and satisfaction and address any issues promptly.
Sales and Marketing:
- Collaborate with the marketing team to promote fitness programs, personal training services, and group classes.
- Participate in outreach activities to recruit new members and retain existing ones.
- Track program revenue and contribute to meeting facility sales goals.
Administrative Duties:
- Develop and manage the fitness department's budget, including program costs and staff salaries.
- Maintain accurate records, including membership numbers, program attendance, and financial reports.
- Prepare reports on department performance and present them to senior management.
Qualifications
- Technical Skills: Familiarity with fitness software, scheduling systems, and membership management tools.
- Leadership Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and lead teams effectively.
- Customer Service: Ability to build relationships and respond to member needs professionally and promptly.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Sports Management, or related field. A master's degree is preferred but open to candidates based on experience.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience leading a fitness program management.
- Certifications: National certification from accredited organizations such as NASM, ACSM, ACE, or NSCA.
- Proven experience in staff management, budget administration, and facility operations.
- Sales and marketing experience is a plus.
- Possesses the highest levels of empathy, emotional intelligence, ability to be a team player, and practicality to fit the appropriate situations.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities, with a keen eye for detail.
- Strong financial acumen, with experience managing budgets and controlling costs.
- Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to engage with members, guests, and staff effectively.
Working Conditions:
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required.
- Frequent interaction with members and staff in a dynamic fitness environment.
- May require physical activity, such as demonstrating exercises and helping maintain fitness equipment.
The Fitness Director will work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment that requires standing for long periods and the ability to lift and carry heavy items. The role involves working flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed. Benefits
