About This PositionChristianaCare is searching for Fitness Instructor to lead caregivers in a group environment through safe and effective fitness classes that are designed to enhance overall fitness while ensuring the safety of each caregiver.This is a casual, 4-hour a week position.
Principal duties and responsibilities:- Choregraph and teach a variety of fitness classes.
- Manage class size up to 20 participants with varying abilities.
- Monitor and teach class participants proper exercise form and technique using positive reinforcement.
- Educate class participants about fitness, exercise, and safe exercise techniques.
- Educate class participants about ChristianaCare's wellness and healthy lifestyle initiatives.
- Set up, move, and store exercise equipment while ensuring a safe exercise environment.
- Knowledge of emergency procedures and the location of emergency equipment.
- Perform exercise equipment inspection and maintenance.
- Remove imperfect exercise equipment from circulation and report to the fitness manager or supervisor.
- Report to the fitness center manager or supervisor, in a timely manner, any conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself and other caregivers.
- Leave a clean, safe, and organized exercise studio after class.
- Record class attendance and maintain the spreadsheet.
- Perform assigned work adhering to department and system-wide safety rules and practices.
- Perform other work-related duties as required.
- Maintain group fitness certifications.
- Maintain CPR with AED certification.
- Complete system-wide mandatory education and other requirements including but not limited to vaccination deadlines and surveys.
Education requirements:- CPR with AED certification.
- Group Fitness Instructor Certification from a nationally recognized institution including, but not limited to ACE, ACSM, AFAA, ISSA, NETA required. A degree in Exercise Science, Fitness Management, Physiology, Kinesiology or in a related discipline with experience teaching fitness classes may be considered in lieu of a certification in which the certification will be acquired during employment.
