Overview:
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Fitness Manager demonstrates exceptional customer service skills, oversees all aspects of the gym and fitness program to include fitness classes, personal training services, spa services and educational programs, works interdepartmentally and with outside vendors related to maintenance of fitness and spa areas and purchases of equipment. Position will be responsible for developing new programs, evaluating class offerings and schedules, recruiting and managing 1099 contractors, and growing a nutrition and wellness component.
The Fitness Manager also provides exemplary service in a manner consistent with the values and mission of the Castle Group. He or she performs all responsibilities while demonstrating outstanding customer service skills representative of Castle Royal Service as it relates to this function.

Supervises: Independent contractor fitness instructors, personal trainers and spa service providers
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: (May include some or all of the following as applicable)
Recruits, retains and oversees qualified fitness instructors, personal trainers and spa service providers, all of whom are independent contractors.
Develops and implements new fitness classes while maintaining the quality of current offerings and determining minimum levels of attendance for viability of classes.
Insures variety and suitability of class offerings for varying ability levels of homeowners in a 55+ community.
Actively promotes fitness and wellness offerings.
Actively solicits and responds to participant feedback.
Manages fitness class schedules and signup software.
Teaches fitness classes, provides personal training services and develops educational programs related to fitness and nutrition relevant to residents of a 55+ community.
Develops and leads resident wellness and nutrition classes to include outside speakers and subject experts.
Holds monthly sessions to familiarize residents with proper gym equipment use and available program services - fitness classes, personal training and spa services and how to access services.
Oversees cleanliness in gym, fitness rooms and spa areas in conjunction with the Facilities Department.
Oversees maintenance of equipment in conjunction with the Facilities Department and outside vendors.
Provides input regarding new and replacement fitness equipment and supplies.
Serves as the management representative to the Fitness & Spa Advisory Committee on the development of new programs, resident feedback and developing a Valencia Lakes Fitness and Wellness brand.
Works with the Finance Advisory Committee and POA Board on revenue and expense budgets and the profit and loss statement.
Keeps complete and accurate records of all fitness activities.
Works with local gyms/local communities to obtain information/contacts for popular fitness programs/classes/instructors/etc.
Works with other Castle Fitness Managers/Coordinators for group purchasing power.
Coordinates with the Lifestyle Director as necessary for event promotion, marketing and flyers.
Prepares reports to be included in the by-weekly management report.
Ensures all safety precautions are followed while performing duties.
Performs any other responsibilities as assigned by the General Manager.
Qualifications:SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Education/Training/Certifications/Licenses:
High school diploma or equivalency required. Certification in personal training from a recognized organization (e.g., ACE, NASM, ACSM). CPR/AED certification.
Experience/Knowledge Skills:
3-5 years of work experience in fitness training in group and individual instruction in disciplines such as Yoga, Pilates, dance, etc. Strong knowledge in all aspects of physical fitness, including nutrition relevant to a 55+ community. Experience in promoting fitness and wellness. Excellent verbal and written skills. Outstanding interpersonal and leadership skills.
Computer Literacy:
Intermediate command of computer hardware/software is required; specifically, knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Travel and Availability Requirements:
May be required to travel for training sessions off-site on an ad-hoc basis.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to life 50 pounds; Work in an upright standing or sitting position for long periods of time. Handle, grasp and lift objects and packages, extensive use of fingers for typing and visual use of the computer monitor. Reach with hands and arms. Communicate, receive and exchange ideas and information by means of the spoken and written word. Ability to quickly and easily navigate the property/building as required to meet the job functions. Complete all required forms.
