Fitness Specialist, Indianola Wellness Center

This position is 100% on-site in the Indianola Community Wellness Center in Indianola, Mississippi.

The Fitness Specialist is responsible for supporting health and wellness initiatives through health education, wellness coaching and fitness training for the Indianola Community Wellness Center members. The Fitness Specialist works with members to develop individualized wellness care plans to support healthy lifestyle practices and improve chronic health conditions.

In the preventative realm, the Fitness Specialist focuses on helping members establish health behaviors to help reach sustainable and lasting changes. In the chronic realm, the Fitness Specialist focuses on helping members establish behaviors to slow down progression of chronic disease and improve overall health. The Fitness Specialist provides best practice wellness coaching and exercise prescriptions based on the targeted population and is able to evaluate data and outcomes to provide recommendations to further enhance programs.

Job-Specific Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science or related field required with minimum of one year experience in a teaching role or health related field, including program development designed to improve overall health.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule.
• Strong communication and analytical skills to assess member needs and provide education in a relational and motivational manner.
• Ability to document and organize work product to demonstrate conformance with all job expectations.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Power Point, and Excel.
• First Aid/CPR/AED Certification preferred.
