Aquila's full-time Fitness Specialist assists members in safe and effective exercise and performs a wide range of technical exercise and administrative duties in health/fitness center.
The salary for this position is $46,500 which is $22.36 per hour, plus personal training commissions. Candidates must be able to work 8 hour days Monday-Friday with availability to work a 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. schedule. There is no weekend work.

Responsibilities include:
- Teach group exercise classes
- Supervise exercise areas
- Conduct personal training sessions
- Educate members concerning safe exercise techniques
- Perform exercise assessments and prescribe exercise upon American College of Sports Medicine guidelines
- Conduct safe and effective assessments including cardiovascular, strength, flexibility and body composition analysis; evaluate and interpret data and identify high risk participants and special populations
- Aid members - spotting and equipment usage
- Explain all equipment
- Ensure the maintenance, cleanliness and safety of all equipment
- Adhere to departmental and club policies and procedures
- Adhere to client's policies and procedures
- Attend staff meetings
- Assist in wellness and fitness promotions and external events
- Perform daily administrative duties
Qualifications required:
- B.S. in Kinesiology, Exercise Science or in related health/fitness field OR Active NCCA accredited national fitness certification (ACE, NASM, AFAA, ACSM, NCSF, NSCA or other NCCA accredited certification)
- Active CPR certification
- At least 1 year work experience in the fitness industry
- Must be a U.S. citizen as this is a federal agency
