Summary: Aquila's full-time Fitness Specialist assists members in safe and effective exercise and performs a wide range of technical exercise and administrative duties in an Aquila managed health/fitness center.
Pay Rate: The pay rate is $22.36/hour, which is $46,500 annually when working 40 hours every week.
Work Hours: This position is 40 work hours per week, Monday-Friday. Work hours are 5:30 a.m. -1:30 p.m. and 11:30 a.m. - 7:30 p.m. on alternating days. Candidates should be able to work both schedules on alternating days.

Responsibilities include:
- Supervise exercise areas
- Educate members concerning safe exercise techniques
- Teach group exercise classes
- Conduct personal training sessions
- Perform exercise assessments and prescribe exercise upon American College of Sports Medicine guidelines
- Conduct safe and effective assessments including cardiovascular, strength, flexibility and body composition analysis; evaluate and interpret data and identify high risk participants and special populations
- Aid members - spotting and equipment usage
- Explain all equipment
- Ensure the maintenance, cleanliness and safety of all equipment
- Adhere to departmental and club policies and procedures
- Adhere to client's policies and procedures
- Attend staff meetings
- Assist in wellness and fitness promotions and external events
- Perform daily administrative duties
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or Health Promotion or Related Field is REQUIRED
- Active NCCA accredited National Fitness Certification - (ACE, ACSM, NSCA, NASM, NCSF, NCCPT or AFAA or any other that is NCCA accredited) - can be obtained within 90 days after hire
- Active certification in American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers; American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Course; American Red Cross CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation) for the Professional Rescuer; or equivalent
- Able to work full time in-person, Monday-Friday, in Rockville, MD
- Must be a U.S. Citizen as this is a government agency
