Perform daily cleaning tasks and other operational duties.This position works with considerable independence and self-direction. Only the general direction and scope of the work to be accomplished are discussed with supervisor.Position Appointment Details:

Position DescriptionTypical Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Assist FitWell members with check-in, including: ensuring members scan in and sign waivers, process electronic payments, and answer questions about the facility
  • Monitor the facility for safety issues and report any safety concerns to the Director of FitWell or Manager of FitWell Operations
  • Report any concerns about equipment
  • Ensure that equipment is routinely returned to its proper location
  • Document and report any policy or procedure violations to the FitWell Manager of Operations using incident report protocols
  • Follow assigned cleaning procedures-including wiping down equipment, vacuuming, laundering towels, and other cleaning duties as assigned
  • Stock necessary supplies and equipment-including filling spray bottles, wipes, etc.
  • Provide information about gym classes, services, and special events offered by the Wellness Commons, including tours of the facility when requested by visitors
  • Assist in coverage of opening shifts and weekend hours of operation
  • Other tasks as assigned by the Manager of FitWell Operations or Director of FitWell
Judgment Required: Prescribed, established procedures are primarily used to perform the essential functions of this position.Budgetary Responsibility: NoneMachines & Equipment Used: Able to operate, evaluate, and perform basic troubleshooting of malfunctioning fitness equipment.Personal Interaction/Communications: Student Contact:Frequent; assisting visitors, answering questionsInternal (Operations Committee, Faculty, Administrative department heads)Frequent; assisting visitors, answering questionsExternal (Regents & Trustees, government officials or agencies, visitors, parents, other institutions, colleges, or companies, suppliers)Frequent; assisting visitors, answering questions Attributes of a Successful Candidate Education:High school diploma or equivalent.Experience:1+ years of related experience.Job-Related Skills:
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
  • Proficient in basic communication applications and platforms, including Fusion Innosoft and GSuite
  • Knowledge of basic gym operations and fitness services is desirable
Supplemental InformationWorking Environment:
  • Work is performed at the FitWell Front Desk.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
  • Assist in coverage of opening shifts and weekend hours of operation
  • 20 hours total a week allotted for these two part-time positions
    • Shift 1
      • Sunday: 12 pm-6 pm (6 hours)
      • Monday: 6am-8am (2 hours)
      • Tuesday: 6am-8am (2 hours)
    • Shift 2
      • Wednesday: 6am-8am (2 hours)
      • Thursday: 6am-8am (2 hours)
      • Friday: 6am-8am (2 hours)
      • Saturday: 10 am-2 pm (4 hours)
  • Flexibility in scheduling to assist with accommodations for breaks and university holidays.
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to walk for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to climb (many stairs, ladders).
  • Must be able to crawl and/or kneel.
  • Must be able to push and/or pull objects.
  • Must be able to lift between 21-50 pounds (medium work).
  • Must be able to carry between 21-50 pounds (medium work).
