Job Type Full-timeDescriptionUnder the direction of the Shop Manager, the shop mechanic ensures the safe and efficient operation of a variety of small and large equipment and vehicles. The mechanic helps maintain both gas and diesel equipment by completing repairs, inspections, and preventative maintenance; correcting vehicle deficiencies; making adjustments and alignments; and keeping accurate records. An ideal candidate would also have some experience with welding and fabricating.RequirementsResponsibilities:
- Determines vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests; identifying worn and damaged parts.
- Keeps equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules; installing component and part upgrades; controlling corrosion; completing winterization procedures.
- Performs routine fleet maintenance including changing oil, checking batteries, lubricating equipment and parts, and adjusting and aligning wheels.
- Corrects vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems, such as:
- power and drive trains electrical
- air conditioning fuel
- systems emissions brake
- systems
- steering mechanisms
- transmissions hydraulics
Required Qualifications:
- Must have Valid Driver's License and ability to maintain insurable driving record at all times.
- Must have own tools
- Ability to work safely at all times in all conditions
- Ability to be on call for all shifts during winter snow season
- Ability to carry 50 lbs. and occasionally loads up to 100 lbs.
- Ability to maintain shop organization at all times
Desired Skills:
- Engine diagnosis & troubleshooting skills both gas and diesel, heavy and light equipment
- Electrical systems on trucks, equipment and trailers
- Small trailer repair experience
- Change and balance equipment tires
- Small engine repair experience
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus
- Auto certifications a plus
- Welding skills a plus
