Job Type Full-time Description This is a full-time, 12-month, benefit eligible position that reports to the Assistant Director of Operations and or the Director of Operations. This is a non-exempt, hourly position. The Fleet Maintenance Mechanic performs general overhaul, tune up, diagnostic and repair work on buses and related power-driven equipment. Inspects, diagnoses, adjust and replaces necessary units and parts including cooling, fuel and exhaust components. May fabricate and modify parts and equipment. The Fleet Maintenance Mechanic also inspects, diagnoses, repairs, and services mechanical and electrical issues on all other CA vehicles and equipment. It is expected the Fleet Mechanic works in compliance with established safety procedures and meets or exceeds industry and manufacturer estimated work times. The shop is open from 7 am to 430 pm Monday Friday. There are instances when the shop may close later or open earlier based upon the needs of the fleet. ESSENTIAL TASKS: Receives, reads, interprets pre and post check documents and closes work orders. Performs complex diagnostics on all vehicle systems. Determines, completes and documents appropriate maintenance and repairs on all vehicle components that include, but are not limited to: brakes, engine components, transmissions, suspension components, steering components, coolant systems, air conditioners, lifts, fuel systems, exhaust systems, vehicle electrical systems, and other components on gasoline and diesel-powered engines Performs and documents preventative maintenance procedures in accordance with vehicle specifications Receives pre and post check documents, inspects according to industry standards, performs complex diagnoses and repairs within predetermined time standards Performs road service calls Accurately diagnoses the issue while using required safety procedures Accounts for all work performed on a work order and accounts for all parts and supplies used for repairs Performs heavy physical labor in a variety of outdoor conditions Willing to work flexible shifts, holidays, evenings and weekends Required to have prompt, regular attendance in-person and be available to work on-site, in-person during regular business hours and as needed. Requirements KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: Knowledge of original equipment manufacturer (OEM) parts and vehicle repair. Demonstrate interpersonal skills and strong communication skills. Ability to make decisions and problem solve relative to urgency. Ability to prioritize and coordinate a multitude of tasks. Must have background and knowledge of all aspects of fleet operations. Must have good math aptitude. Proficient computer and keyboarding skills. Diagnostic skills. Attention to detail. Strong analytical and organizational skills. Ability to prepare and maintain detailed records. Ability to work independently and under stress making time sensitive decisions. Strong oral communication skills. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Knowledge of ALL DATA, and other fleet repair programs EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: High School Diploma 2 years experience fleet maintenance of heavy diesel, truck or bus repair, and service. A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications. Valid Drivers license CDL License preferred Effectively communicate with supervisor, drivers and staff. Colorado Department of Education (CDE) certified inspector. Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) certified inspector. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Use their hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls. Stand for long periods of time. Bend or twist their body. Repeat the same movements. Kneel, stoop, crouch, or crawl. Use muscles to lift, push, pull, or carry heavy objects. Work in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to the outdoor elements. This is a full-time, 12-month, benefit eligible position that reports to the Assistant Director of Operations and or the Director of Operations. This is a non-exempt, hourly position. The pay range for the position starts at $28.00 per hour. Hourly rate offered will be based on experience, education, and certifications. Any wage differential that may exist for the position does not relate to sex, gender or gender identity, but relates solely to a seniority system, a merit system, or relevant education, training and/or experience.
