- The Control Systems Engineer has the full responsibility for the implementation of manufacturing equipment projects and assignments. The Control Systems Engineer will be a critical individual implementing advanced techniques in PLC programming, troubleshooting and ensuring highly reliable automation in a manufacturing environment

- Analyzes and addresses sophisticated automation equipment challenges to provide effective control system solutions to an assortment of new and existing automated process equipment while focusing on growing equipment reliability and operational performance of equipment such as extruders, rotating equipment, hydraulic, mechanical systems, scanners, cameras, and other devices and programs
- Understands, maintains and addresses machine control systems, including PLC controllers and industrial networks such as motor control systems, servo drives, variable frequency drives, and electrical distribution systems
- Partners with internal engineering and maintenance teams; as well as external equipment vendors and parts suppliers to complete root cause analysis, formulate solutions, and coordinate solution implementation
- Acts as a primary technical consultant for Automation and Control projects and troubleshooting inside the Baytown, TX manufacturing facility
- Is a champion of safety procedures and recognizing safety hazards. Comply with all company safety policies including OSHA standards and NFPA 70 & NFPA 79.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and QUALIFICATIONSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. - Bachelor's degree or equivalent of 10 years experience in Computer Sciences, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, Engineering Technology, or other related engineering.
- Confirmed understanding of working with controls trouble shooting in a manufacturing environment with extensive PLC Programming experience.
- Proven record within an industrial controls' environment which includes PLC programming, Factory Talk HMI development, I/O, communication networks and AC, DC, single / three-phase.
- Experienced with Rockwell Automation Software, Allen-Bradley RS Logix PLC software and Factory Talk ME & SE HMI development.
- Confirmed understanding with Extrusion, Mechanical Systems and Rotating equipment.
- Detailed experience demonstrating electrical knowledge of 24v AC/DC control circuits, digital multimeters and functions and experience with 120v power and control circuits, knowledge of 277v-480v power circuits and ability to wire-up and efficiently operate a 3-phase motor.
- Ability to read, understand and interpret electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics, along with knowledge in mechanical and architectural drawings
- Experience with networked VFDs (EtherNet, DeviceNet, emphasis on Yaskawa drives)
- Expert in reading electrical drawings and schematics; and familiarity with AutoCAD and SolidWorks software.
