Job Title: Float PhlebotomistJob Description
As a Float Phlebotomist, you will be responsible for greeting patients as they come into the lab, performing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data, decontaminating workspaces, and updating patient information. You will collect and store specimens according to established procedures, explain the process of venipuncture or other specimen collection clearly and courteously, and demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles. You must fully understand physicians' orders, match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes, and ensure all test requisitions or computer labels are correct. Additional responsibilities include packaging specimens for transport, storing specimens at the required temperature, and adhering to specific protocols to maintain specimen integrity. Compliance with OSHA and DEP regulations, attending annual department trainings, answering telephone inquiries, handling insurance, billing, processing samples, and providing excellent customer service are also required.

Work Environment
This role involves working in various LabCorp locations on the West Side as a float phlebotomist. The schedule is Monday to Friday with rotating Saturdays (one Saturday every 2-4 weeks), with shifts starting as early as 6:00 AM and ending as late as 6:30 PM. The position requires 8-hour shifts, totaling 40 hours per week. Schedules are released every two weeks but can change based on location and needs. This is a 3-month contract position with potential extensions and opportunities for direct hire, depending on performance and business needs. Occasionally, you may be asked to float to a different LabCorp location in Providence in urgent situations.
