Position Summary: As part of the rig crew, the Floor hand operates machines and maintains equipment used in drilling operations. This includes assembly, disassembly and transportation of the rig and work associated with pulling pipe. Working on the rig is a highly physical job. Most of their time is spent on the rig assisting the Driller in a multitude of functions including tripping pipe, handling tongs, making connections, cleaning, etc.Key Roles / Responsibilities:
- Assists in assembly, disassembly and transportation of the rig and service equipment.
- Assists in loading and off-loading pipe and other items.
- Performs general rig maintenance.
- Performs general maintenance on auxiliary equipment including Pump, Draw Works, Forklift, etc.
- Manipulates sections of casing and/or tubing to be run in the hole, laid down, or stood back.
- Assists in moving pipes with forklift.
- Assists in Tripping pipe (Using slips, tongs, elevators, etc.) and makes connections while running casing, or production tubing.
- Nipples BOP's up and down.
- Inspects safety equipment.
- Is responsible as first responders for emergency situations and evacuation procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications:
- CPR certified, preferred.
- OSHA Safe-Land certified, preferred.
- CDL license, preferred.
- Able to read, speak and write English.
- Able to work under stressful conditions at times.
- Strong work ethics of integrity and honesty striving for excellence in all activities employing accompanying communication.
- Dependability, reliability, fulfilling responsibilities.
Working Conditions:
- Bending, lifting, climbing, pushing, pulling, kneeling, sitting stand, walk, kneel, stoop, squat, pull, push, climb, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, and see and standing (occasionally) for long periods of time.
- The essential duties of this position require moderate to heavy lifting and carrying.
- Prolonged periods of sitting on a forklift or other warehouse equipment.
- Exposure to moderate noise levels, vibrations, and bright lights; and exposure to dust, fumes, and gases; and all climate types including hot and cold temperatures, humidity, rain, snow, etc.
- Able to wear common protective or safety equipment such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection, breathing protection, and hard hats when needed.
- Able to work under stressful conditions at times.
- React quickly using hands, fingers, or feet.
- Must be able to move and lift to 40-pound wooden skid or pallet.
- Ability to travel throughout facility as required to conduct safety inspections.
- Must be able to comprehend and follow written and oral instructions.
- Must be able to complete tasks even with frequent interruptions.
- Must be able to use discretion and independent judgment as needed.
- Must be able to speak clearly on the phone and to fellow workers.
