The Floor Maintenance Assistance will clean and maintain various types of floor surfaces. This position requires employees to be knowledgeable to establish floor finishing techniques, procedures, and correct usage of chemical agents. Work is performed under close supervision and is reviewed for quality and efficiency. Job responsibilities include the following:

* Buffing, stripping and waxing of floors

* Cleaning and maintaining wood, tile, terrazzo, and carpeted surfaces.

* Cleaning carpets

* Assisting with housekeeping duties

Work Location: Environmental Services

Work Hours: Monday-Friday 6:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. (rotating weekends)

* Working knowledge of floor care, cleaning and finishing techniques

* Working knowledge of procedures and correct usage of chemical cleaning agents

* Skill in the use and care of floor maintenance equipment

* Ability to follow instructions

* Ability to follow procedural directions in the use of cleaning products

Management Preferences:

* High School Diploma or GED

* Valid North Carolina Driver's License

Education and/or experience in floor maintenance work that is directly related to the job and consistent with accepted practices of the trade equivalent to one year of experience in a commercial or institutional setting.
