JOB PURPOSE: Floor Managers manage the restaurant on a day-to-day basis. Their focus is on the front-of-house operations, which consists of managing Din Tai Fung's brand standards, ensuring service meets expectations, managing inventories, and controlling costs as it relates to product and labor to ensure budgets are met. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES FOR FLOOR MANAGER: OPERATIONS:
  • Arriving to work on time to set a positive example for employees
  • Attending Front of House Camera Meetings
  • Ensuring the restaurant is staffed and set up for business ensuring not to exceed the labor budget
  • Checking all FOH sections for preparedness
  • Ensuring Opening, Closing, and Daily Check Lists are completed
  • Ensuring the restaurant is clean outside and inside of any debris
  • Ensuring server stations are stocked with products and supplies
  • Able to communicate in a manner that achieves positive results
  • Ensuring that all staff complete the appropriate paperwork correctly
  • Disciplining and encouraging employees when necessary
  • Providing training in all facets of the Front of House floor operations
  • Completing documentation accurately and promptly
  • Achieving budgeted sales and profit by managing costs and effectively running the restaurant
  • Opening and closing the restaurant(s)
  • Reading, understanding, following, and enforcing the Employee Handbook, Training Guide, and Specific Departmental Standard Operating Procedures Manual including POS operations.
  • Ensuring compliance with licensing and hygiene, health and safety legislation
  • Familiar with all products provided on menus
SERVICE:
  • Engaging in conversation with guests and assisting them when needed
  • Touching tables to ensure guest satisfaction
  • Ensuring servers are suggestive-selling and down-selling products as appropriate
  • Monitoring the floor and tables to ensure excellent service
  • Ensuring tables are clean and set when necessary
  • Assisting staff when necessary, being a TEAM player
  • Engaging with guests. Building and developing relationships with clientele
  • Handling guest inquiries and complaints
COMMUNICATIONS:
  • Communicating with staff and conducting Pre-shift meetings
  • Able to communicate in a manner that achieves positive results
  • Attending weekly management meetings to discuss concerns, give suggestions, and communicate any other pertinent information related to the operation.
  • Ensuring that upper management is well informed of operations and any incidents that may require outside assistance
  • Developing and maintaining a professional working environment for staff
  • Maintaining confidentiality regarding all propriety information, including but not limited to recipes and Standard Operating Procedures ( SOP's )
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience or education
  • Flexible Work Schedule
    • Floor Managers are required to work a minimum of 40 hours per week
    • The schedule may vary based on business demands
  • Ability to efficiently operate in Microsoft Office Suite and Email
  • Positive and professional attitude
  • Strong communication and ability to work cohesively with all levels of management, all departments, and all co-workers in a team
  • Basic cooking skills
  • Ability to stand for long periods
  • Ability to perform job functions with minimal supervision, attention to detail, and speed
