Role Summary
Ensures cleanliness, orderliness, and safety in assigned areas.
This position operates specialized floor equipment to clean and maintain floor surfaces. The incumbent transports floor equipment and supplies needed to perform daily tasks; maintains sufficient stock and supplies;and performs other floor maintenance and general cleaning tasks as needed.
Examples of Work Performed
* Sweeps, mops and vacuums floor surfaces of assigned areas in University buildings.
* Completes spot removal and grout cleaning.
* Moves furniture within assigned area for floor access.
* Cleans, strips, buffs and waxes floor surfaces in University buildings.
* Cleans, shampoos, bonnets and extracts carpet in University buildings.
* Clears areas of all materials and equipment to restore workspace to useful condition after work is completed.
* Maintains sufficient stock and supplies needed to perform daily tasks.
* Safely transports and operates specialized floor equipment used to perform daily tasks.
* Reads all chemical labels, wears personal protective equipment (PPE) and adheres to chemical use and workplace safety procedures.
* Monitors the condition of equipment used for daily tasks and reports failures for repair.
* Performs floor work and other general cleaning tasks in support of campus events.
* Covers athletic floors with appropriate materials.
* May perform light window and wall cleaning duties.
* Performs other general cleaning tasks, as needed.
Essential Functions
These essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following. Additional essential functions may be identified and included by the hiring department.
1. Utilizes equipment and supplies to clean assigned facility areas and remove waste and recyclables.
2. Monitors and secures facility interior and exterior entrances, reports issues to appropriate entities.
3. Maintains organization of supply areas and equipment, documents inventory and requests additional supplies as needed.
4. Documents and reports repairs, violations and pest control needs.
5. Maintains clean and clear entrances to ensure they are free of debris, litter, snow and ice.
Minimum Education/Experience
Education: Ability to read, write, and understand basic instructions.
AND
Licensure: A valid driver's license may be required depending on the department.
