Florence House, one of Preble Street's Site-based Housing First and emergency shelter programs, meets urgent needs and provides evidence based, sustainable solutions to homelessness, offering comprehensive supportive services, shelter, and permanent housing for women 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

A Caseworker position with a full-time, 2nd shift schedule is currently available in this service-inclusive, client-centered shelter program. Caseworkers provide supportive services to women who are currently experiencing or have previously experienced homelessness, actively engaging with clients and tenants in the shelter spaces, maintaining a safe and supportive environment, offering crisis intervention and support, and providing casework services to clients and tenants toward meeting housing goals and maintaining housing stability.

The schedule for this full-time (40 hours/week), 2nd shift position is Sunday - Thursday, 2:00pm-10:30pm.

Qualifications

Qualifications for the Caseworker position include a combination of relevant work experience, education, and/or training to perform the work of the Caseworker; preferred qualifications include a bachelor's degree in social work or related field and/or qualifications as required for CCM services under MaineCare Section 13.

Additional qualifications include an understanding of and alignment with Preble Street's mission and positive regard for individuals accessing services for homelessness and poverty, and a commitment to providing low-barrier services. Mental Health Support Specialist (MHSS-1) certification is required and can be obtained on the job/after hire.

Also required are strong communication, de-escalation, and crisis intervention skills; familiarity with community resources; strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain documentation of services; ability to work with and maintain professional boundaries with diverse populations; and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, as well as the ability to regularly work as scheduled, with consistent and reliable attendance.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

The hourly rate of pay for this full-time (40 hours/week) position is $22.45 per hour. As a direct service position in a 24/7 program, this position is eligible for a shift differential of $1.00 per hour for all hours worked between 7:00am and 10:00pm or $2.00 per hour between 10:00 pm and 7:00 am.
