Position Type: Support Staff/Murdock Focus Program TutorDate Posted: 5/23/2024Location: Murdock Elementary SchoolPOSITION TITLE: FOCUS Non-Certified Instructor WAGE: $15.25 per hour HOURS: 3:00pm-6:00pm PRIMARY FUNCTION: FOCUS Non-Certified Instructors work directly under the supervision of the FOCUS Lead Teacher. All Non-Certified Instructors are responsible to ensure the safety and instruction of students across all activities and locations. Also, FOCUS Non-Certified Instructors are responsible to maintain complete confidentiality about students and their records. REPORTS TO: The FOCUS Non-Certified Instructor reports directly to the building administrator or their designee. QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma with a priority given to those with a valid IN teachers license
- Have at least two years' experience working with children
- Willingness to become familiar with and work within the philosophy and guidelines of the FOCUS program
- Be able to plan individual and small group instruction using academic standards and assessment results
- Willingness to participate in program development, staff development, program and student evaluation and community collaboration on an on-going basis
- Have good interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
- Demonstrate flexibility, good problem-solving skills
- Must be willing to have a background check completed
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Additional specific duties and responsibilities vary from classroom to classroom. Typical duties assigned to FOCUS tutors/Teachers may include, but are not limited to the following:
- Demonstrate skills needed to support the needs of the participants
- Communicate with FOCUS Lead Teacher
- Attend 21st Century Community Learning Center trainings and networking meetings (when needed)
- Assist in daily program needs (snack, dismissal, clean-up, or any other areas)
- Take attendance daily
- Provide copies of lesson plans linked to regular school-day learning and the Academic Standards weekly
- Demonstrate ability to manage small and large groups of students of various ages
- Assist Lead Teacher and other staff where needed as needed
- Other duties required for successful programming and/or requirements of LSC or stakeholders
- Be prepared for instructional needs (materials, lesson plans, etc.) for maximizing time-on task for students
Monthly:
- Attend program staff meetings and professional development
- Assist with monthly family events
- Keep lesson plans and anecdotal records about instruction
- Advise director about potential student and program needs
Annually:
- Attend orientation meeting
- Participate in a summative evaluation process
