Job Title: Food and Beverage ManagerDepartment: Food and BeverageFLSA Status: Salary ExemptThe Down East Bird Dawgs is a Frontier League team preparing to begin play for the 2025 season. The team is located in Kinston, NC in the historic Grainger Stadium.The Food andBeverage Manager oversees successful operations of all Food and Beverage concessions areas. This position coordinates the day-to-day operations and game day operations for all concession areas, ensures proper food and beverage inventory levels, equipment maintenance, and communication with vendors while assisting with other hospitality food and beverage operations as need. Works to ensure highest guest satisfaction while embodying top tier customer service.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesPrinciple duties and responsibilities of this job classification:Food and Beverage
  • Oversees all concession operations for baseball games and ballpark events.
  • Oversees all concourse concessions game/event setup, nightly stand closedown, cleaning, and shift endings.
  • Assists with calculating food costs, setting menu item pricing, and running ongoing reports.
  • Maintain proper food and beverage inventory for concessions by placing orders with vendors based on inventory projections and needs.
  • Responsible to program, maintain, and update POS and digital menu board systems for concessions as needed.
  • Oversee register balancing and any employee balancing issues.
  • Strives to work toward lean operations concerning low food and labor costs while working to achieve highest food and beverage sales and revenue.
  • Assists in troubleshooting any food and beverage equipment issues.
  • Work to increase per-cap concession revenues as required.
  • Assists in securing the best vendor contracts to facilitate the supply line for all concession products sold at the ballpark.
Human Resources
  • Hire, train and supervise/direct all game day seasonal food and beverage staff.
  • Manages game day staffing levels and schedules for all seasonal staff.
  • Communicates with staff any new food items, new areas, and new processes.
  • Responsible for the administration of bi weekly employee payroll including time cards and service charge calculations.
  • Maintains high visibility with employees and customers to help solve problems as they arise.
  • Assists with training and management of health code standards.
  • Works with GM and AGM to handle any employee relations issues as arise.
  • Maintains compliance with all appropriate OSHA, safety, departmental or company procedures and standards.
  • Game day and facility events activity is required resulting in night or weekend hours.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Experience and skills requirementsType of prior related experience:
  • Must have 2-5 years of professional sports industry or event venue equivalent experience.
  • Must have relative people/team management experience.
Special skills/abilities/competencies required:
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills
  • Good at identifying and solving problems.
  • Self-motivated and goal-oriented.
  • Great guest service skills.
Education and certification requirementsEducation level:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associates, Bachelor's or relevant degree coursework in Hospitality, Restaurant or Food and Beverage Management preferred.
Certifications, Licenses or special training needed:
  • Tips Certified Trainer
  • Serve Safe Certified
