THE SCHOOL BOARD OF HIGHLANDS COUNTY POSITION TITLE: Supervisory ASSIGNMENT: Site Supervisor - Food & Nutrition Services MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent from an accredited educational Two (2) years documented experience as an Assistant Manager in SBHC Food & Nutrition or four (4) years documented equivalent experience Physical Ability: Exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects; ability to reach, stretch, bend, stoop or kneel to handle, lift or move objects from floor level to 6 feet above floor level; walk or stand for periods of four continuous hours Environmental Factors: Ability to work under the following environmental conditions:- Subject to inside environmental conditions where there is protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes
- Subject to extreme cold; temperatures are below 32 degrees for periods of more than one hour
- Subject to extreme heat; temperatures are above 100 degrees for periods of more than one hour
- Subject to noise; sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout to be heard and must be able to hear and be heard above the ambient noise level
- Subject to hazards; includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, and exposure to high heat or chemicals
Satisfactory clearance of a criminal history records check and drug screening ADDITIONAL DESIRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of computer, cash register, and food processing equipment as related to departmental job functions Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written PRIMARY PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Cooperates with principal and staff in planning, developing, and utilizing the school food service program to effect maximum benefits to school and community Complies with all applicable District Procedures, School Board Policy, State and Federal Regulations Supervises and evaluates food service personnel. Recommend employees for appointment, re-appointment, transfer, and termination Maintains high standards of sanitation and safety Submits reports and maintains records as required Instructs employees in regulations and procedures and conducts continuous on-the-job training for food service personnel Motivates employees to participate in professional self-improvement activities which improve the education and training of the employee and opportunity for advancement Exercises managerial skills to control labor, food costs, non-food costs, ordering, and inventory levels Manages the preparation of food within an established production system following standardized recipes, preparation and service methods food handling techniques, and equipment use and care guidelines Supervises the ordering of supplies according to established specifications, determined by menu, volume and student needs. Recommends purchase of equipment. Participates as part of the district-wide Emergency Management Team Maintains quality relations with school staff and customers Maintains accurate, current records of monies, sales, etc. Supervises assigned personnel, conduct annual performance appraisals and recommends appropriate employment action Communicates to principals, or their designees, all circumstances impacting the safety, health, and welfare of students, faculty, and staff Will take appropriate hours of annual continuing education/training as required by USDA Professional Standards or other such agencies ADDITIONAL DUTIES: Other duties as assigned by supervising administrator
TERM: Length of contract and number of hours worked are determined by specific allocation as approved annually during planning-budgeting process
APPRAISAL: Performance will be appraised annually in accordance with School Board policies
