BASIC PURPOSEThe purpose of the Food & Nutrition Specialist position is to provide support for Hope Express, Medically Tailored Meals, Fresh Choice Food Program and all other food/nutrition initiatives. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare, cook, and serve meals and snacks for Hope Express and Medically Tailored MealsConduct street outreach servicesCoordinate intake and program eligibility for food & nutrition programsMaintain gifts-in-kind donation recordsAssist in the coordination of the Fresh Choice Food ProgramMaintain inventory of food products, equipment and suppliesOperate and maintain the mobile kitchen trailer and assigned vehicleServe on the Emergency Disaster Services (EDS) teamCoordinate assigned volunteersParticipate in weekly case conference meetingsParticipate in program and agency trainings as assignedMaintain accurate participant records in various information management systems; and generate reports as requestedMaintain and execute confidential information according to HIPPA standardsMaintain a highly detailed and organized filling systemEnsure intake and care procedures utilize harm reduction and trauma informed care principlesCheck and respond to emails and voicemails on a regular basisAdhere to confidentiality standardsOther duties as assigned KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTSAbility to speak and write the English language at a high and professional levelHigh degree of confidentialityAble to endorse and promote The Salvation Army's missionMinimum two (2) years of food service, social service/work and/or related experience preferredComputer literate, in Windows environment (Microsoft Office), Word, Excel and Outlook preferredExcellent communication skills, both written and verbal.Excellent and professional telephone etiquette and presenceExcellent organizational skillsStrong ability to utilize a high level of time management and handling multiple tasks CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONSHigh school diplomaMust possess ServSafe Food Handler certificationMust possess a valid California Class C Driver License, and ability to drive a Salvation Army vehicleMust be 21 years or olderAuthorize The Salvation Army to add name to the CA DMV Pull Notice ProgramComplete The Salvation Army vehicle course trainingMust be able to successfully pass a criminal background check to include a DOJ Livescan Fingerprint check.
