**Food Pantry Coordinator**

**Department:** KOSHER FOOD PROGRAM **Location:** Brooklyn, NY

**FLSA: Non-Exempt/Overtime Eligible**

**Position Summary:**

Met Council is Americas largest Jewish charitydedicated to serving the needy. Met Councils ten different departments are staffed by experts who helped over 305,000 clients in 2020 and continuously advocate on behalf of all needy New Yorkers. Our holistic programs range from 100% affordable housing at 20 locations to our award-winning family violence program to comprehensive Holocaust survivor assistance to senior programming to crisis intervention to the largest free kosher food distribution program in the world. Our network of 101 food pantries, 20 affordable housing sites, and 15 JCCs provide services directly in neighborhoods across New York.

The role of the Food Pantry Coordinator is to manage the food pantry at 5361 Preston Court, Brooklyn, New York. The Food Pantry Coordinator will be primarily responsible for receiving and ordering items for the pantry, assisting clients with the digital system, packing clients order, onboarding satellite sites associated with the Preston Court pantry, and maintaining a clean and effective work space.

**Principal Responsibilities:**

* Maintain pantry inventory for daily distributions.

* Receive and stock items on shelves and in digital system.

* Register new clients and maintain existing clients in digital system.

* Onboard clients to order food items independently via digital pantry.

* Support existing clients with ordering.

* Fulfill (pack) client food orders.

* Coordinate volunteers onsite as available and appropriate.

* Create client menus and update as necessary.

* Onboard new sites working with Preston Court Pantry

* Ensure data integrity in the digital system

* Generate and deliver reports to stakeholders as needed

**Competencies:**

Attention to detail, customer focused, self starter, motivated, planning and organization, good communication skills.

**Skill and Education:**

* Bachelors degree preferred

* At least two years of work experience preferred

* Good computer literacy

* Good motivation and interpersonal skills

* Strong organizational skills and the capability to multi-task

***Language Skills:*** Fluent in English, Bilingual preferred.

***Technical Skills:*** Comfortable with technology

***Reasoning Ability:*** Ability to function effectively within a busy environment and to make appropriate and safe decisions

**Physical Demands:**

- Required Constantly: Walking, sitting, grasping, bending, stooping, squatting, computer input, finger dexterity and coordination of hand, eye and foot. Lifting boxes weighing between up to 30 lbs to stock shelves or tables

- Required Frequently: Standing and climbing stairs; carrying laptop & files (approx. 8-10 lbs

- Required Occasionally: Reaching above the shoulder, and lifting 5-50 pounds, pushing and pulling
