The Manager is directly responsible for all Processing operations and overseeing the efficient and timely flow of all products throughout the Processing Department. The selected candidate must have the ability and experience to supervise multiple employees.ESSENTIAL DUTIES:* Ensure compliance with all internal and external food production regulations and legislation.* Establish, coordinate and enforce operational procedures and standards to ensure high product quality is produced.* Organize and plan for current and long-term goals along with having a contingency plan for unpredictable outcomes.* Coordinate processing department activities such as product preparation, cutting, sorting, packaging and cleaning.* Manage and inspect quality of received product, trimmed product, and waste.* Manage the overall production of processed produce for shipment to our customers and ensure the final product meets set specifications.* Assign tasks appropriately, using all resources and support available to meet or exceed productivity and quality standards, and appraise the results.* Walk processing department daily to identify sanitation issues and address* Write schedules for staff, including seasonal and holiday staffing requirements; coordinate use of available vacation time and forward to HR for payroll.* Check time sheets daily and correct as needed; maintain Sick/Vacation calendars for department employees and forward to HR for payroll.* Maintain required records for audits.* Monitor the physical condition of the processing department and all food production equipment within the department, ensuring workplace health and safety requirements are met, and prepare work orders for repairs.* Ensure Safety Training is completed for all processing personnel and documented in Training Logs* Act as liaise between all departments and processing.* Cover lab responsibilities on vacations or as needed* Other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS:* Four years in the food production industry with at least two years in progressive management role would be ideal; less specific experience would be acceptable depending upon the candidate's total job experience* Fresh produce experience preferred* Ability to adapt to changes quickly and make production decisions as needed* Must have leadership, time management and decision-making skills* Working knowledge of some HR practices including but not limited to: discipline and performance coaching and affirmative action* Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals* Excellent communication skills and ability to interact tactfully and effectively with all business operators and diverse company personnel* Computer skills, including creating spreadsheets and inputting data into them* Record keeping, math and accounting skillsWORKING ENVIRONMENT:The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands:* Must be available for emergencies* Requires prolonged sitting or standing* Requires occasional physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull and push heavy objects or materials* Occasional lifting/moving boxes up to 75 pounds* Some stooping, kneeling, and/or crouching, and significant fine finger dexterity* Ability to work in 34°F - 40°F for significant periods of time* Noise level is moderate to noisyMust be able to pass a pre-employment criminal background check and drug screen, and continue to satisfy our drug testing policy, if offered employment.
