Job Summary: The Food Service Aide assists the Food Service Coordinator in the serving of meals, proper storage of food and the cleaning and maintenance of equipment, utensils and work areas. (Rover) You may be required to commute to various school sites as a part of the normal duties listed above.Hours: 7:00am - 04:00pm or 07:00am - 03:30pmESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: KNOWLEDGE OF:
- Standard kitchen equipment, utensils and measurements; record keeping techniques. Principles and practices of supervision and training; sanitation and safety practices related to serving food.
- Sanitation practices related to preparing, handling and serving food.
- Proper lifting techniques.
- Operation of food service equipment.
- Techniques to properly store perishable foods.
SKILLS/ABILITY TO:
- Operate food service equipment safely and efficiently.
- Maintain food service equipment and areas ensuring that food items are prepared, served and stored properly.
- Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
- Learn, interpret, apply and explain policies, procedures, rules and regulations related to assigned activities.
- Provide the highest level of customer service to students.
- Understand and follow written and oral directions.
- Speak, read and write English at a level required for satisfactory job performance.
- Maintain consistent, punctual and regular attendance.
- Hear and speak to exchange information.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Stand for extended periods of time.
- Move hands and fingers to operate food service equipment and computerized cash management system.
- Reach overhead, above shoulders and horizontally.
- Bend at the waist, kneel or crouch.
- Lift 20 pounds
- Use proper lifting methods.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Food Handler Certification - REQUIRED
- High School Diploma required. College coursework highly desired.
- Any combination equivalent to sufficient training and experience working in a food preparation program.
