Position SummaryAs a Food Service Assistant, you will provide portion prepared food items from bulk containers to individual trays, snack bags and bag lunches based on diet. You will also be responsible for:* Cleaning equipment and utensils* Assisting with basic food preparation and transportation of food from the Central Kitchen to resident living units* Cleaning food production equipment* Storing food supplies* Performing all custodial, sanitation and related tasks in the Food Service DepartmentSalary InformationThe starting pay is $17.12 per hour, plus excellent benefits. A 12-month probationary period is required.A $2,000 sign-on bonus applies to those with no prior state service in the last five years; who stay with CWC until completing probation. Bonus will be split, $1,000 upon hire and $1,000 after completing probation.Pay for current or former state employees will be set based on the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. These positions are classified as a Food Service Assistant 2 and are in pay schedule and range 03/09.Job DetailsAll applicants who may be appointed to this position will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by CWC or medical personnel approved by the facility prior to their start date.These positions have physical requirements which may include but are not limited to lifting up to 30 lbs., pushing 100 lb. food carts, climbing ladders, bending, twisting, reaching, kneeling, stooping, standing, sitting and working on feet for extended periods of time.
