Description Summary:This position is assigned to the Central Kitchen at Maria Luna Food Service Facility. Aid in the smooth flow of food products and maintain the sanitary condition of the production area. Ensure the safety and quality of the products produced. This position works in processing and manufacturing of various food items to be distributed to all schools within Dallas ISD and other locations as needed. This position may also require work rotated weekends, different hours of day and some holidays.
- Adhere to safety and sanitation standards, maintain a food handlers certification
- Prepare a variety of foods; such as meats, vegetables, fruits, breads, according to supervisor instructions, following approved procedures
- Clean food preparation areas, facility and equipment. Responsible for cleaning and sanitizing food manufacturing equipment. Other duties include cleaning buckets, trays, floors, walls, taking out trash and restocking supplies
- Cook and store food in designated containers and storage areas to prevent spoilage. Label as directed
- Keep records of the quantity of food used. Assist with inventory management, as requested
- Assist with recording production data
- Train in all areas of central kitchen food production, including counting reimbursable meals
- Serve meals to students and count reimbursable meals
- Take and record temperature of food and food storage areas, such as refrigerators and freezers
- Prepare food for cooking or serving
- Wash, peel and cut various food; such as fruits and vegetables, to prepare for cooking or serving
- Portion and wrap food, weigh or measure ingredients, follow written recipe instructions
- Counting products to ensure accuracy, stacking, bagging, boxing and palletizing products
- Perform all other tasks and duties as assigned
- All federally funded incumbents of this position must comply with time and effort reporting requirements through personnel activity reports or periodic certification, as appropriate

Qualifications- Accredited Senior High School Diploma or valid equivalent (USA equivalency) preferred
- One year of food production or manufacturing experience
- Ability to stand, climb and walk on a continual basis throughout work shift
- Ability to lift from floor to above the head, frequently carry material weighing up to 50 lbs and occasionally up to 75 lbs throughout the work shift
- Ability to read/interpret production process material, thermometers, guages and record data
- Must be available to work during any shift which may be scheduled anytime during a 24 hour day, over any seven day period, with advance notice or in an emergency situation
- Ability to work in production environment with constant exposure to loud machinery
- Ability to work in extreme temperature, both indoors and outdoors
