Role: Food Service Assistant (Part-Time)Reports to: Food Services Coordinator Work Site: The Main Street Academy; College Park, GA The Main Street Academy (TMSA) is seeking an experienced part-time Food Service Assistant. The successful candidate should have the ability to work well with others and have excellent customer service skills. Applicant must show evidence of following and understanding a standardized recipe for preparing high quality food, and must follow established sanitation and safety procedures. The Main Street Academy is an equal opportunity provider and employer, and all hiring decisions are subject to federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.Under direct supervision, prepares meals for recipients of The Main Street Academy school nutrition program and assists with daily cleaning of food service area.Essential Functions:The following duties are representative for this position. - Assists in the preparation and service of breakfast & lunch for TMSA students and staff.
- Works with manager to ensure the meal management is accurate.
- Assists in implementing sanitation and safety procedures in receiving, preparing, storing and serving food.
- Cleans equipment; maintains cleanliness of work area.
- Serves as cashier; enters cash from meal purchases into the system; calculates total payments received during shift and reconciles with total sales.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Work 4-6 hours per day.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Minimum of one (1) year of closely related experience is preferred.
- Experience in institutional food service is highly preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, PERMITS:
- Orientation for Nutrition Employees training must be successfully completed in accordance with Georgia Department of Education requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:May require:
- Knowledge of nutrition; food handling; preparation; service and sanitation; and all related and established policies and procedures.
- Skill in oral and interpersonal communications; inventorying and ordering food service supplies; identifying equipment problems and furthering service requests.
