Job Summary: Through a strong Christian worldview, prepares and serves residents and staff attractive and nutritious meals.Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • This role does not currently supervise other staff; however, this role will supervise volunteers and OSS residents.
  • Coaches, corrects, rewards, recognizes, and reviews volunteers and OSS residents in accordance with TCM's Core Values & policies.
Essential Job Functions: Prepares and Serves Food
  • Cooks and prepares food according to recipes, directions, menus, and the Ohio Department of Health standards.
  • Prepares items for the day following proper dating procedures for products.
Cleaning and Sanitation
  • Responsible for daily cleaning and sanitizing work areas, equipment, and utensils.
  • Assists in storage and disposal of unused food.
Inventory Stocking
  • Assists Food Service Supervisor in checking inventory.
  • Stocks and rotates inventory using FIFO method.
Other Responsibilities
  • Assists in special events and activities (potentially offsite) requiring food service as directed by supervisor.
  • Facilitates volunteer meal provider groups.

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 6-12 months experience in a food services role preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience and ability giving direction, assignments, and feedback to others required.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications:
  • Must be flexible in availability for a variety of meal schedules as well as special events (different shifts) including weekends as scheduled and/or needed.
Essential Physical and Mental Functions:
  • Stand or walk constantly (for up to an entire shift) on various surfaces (tile, concrete, carpet).
  • Climb stairs.
  • Constantly bend/twist at waist/knees/neck to perform various duties.
  • Lift, carry, or move 50 pounds.
  • Constant use of both hands, fingers, and arms in reaching/handling/grasping.
  • Lift both arms over the head, holding items overhead.
  • Operates a computer as needed
  • Constant use of eyes (correctable vision to normal level required) to observe, read, interact with public and co-workers, view security monitors; includes hand/eye coordination.
  • Constant use of hearing (correctable hearing to normal level required) for day-to-day job functions
  • Read, understand, and clearly speak English; constantly use speech and hearing (correctable to normal level required) in communicating with public/co-workers, giving and receiving instructions, using phones.
  • Constant mental alertness and attention to detail required while setting priorities and following up on assignments.
  • Must possess effective written and oral communication and interpersonal skills with ability to deal with all levels of personnel and the general public in a professional and effective manner; must be able to use initiative and independent judgment within established guidelines.
  • Must be able to handle pressure of constantly working with individuals in crisis.
  • Must be able to handle pressure of interruptions in daily activities.
  • Subject to excessive noise
