This position also serves as Cashier as needed in collecting funds for daily meal transactions, balancing accounts, and depositing funds utilizing established accounting practices.REQUIREMENTS:1. Educational Level:Culinary Technician: High School Diploma/GED preferredCulinary Technician/Cashier: High School Diploma/GED REQUIRED2. Certification/License Required:In lieu of license, employee must complete 30 clock hours of basic training (Orientation for Nutrition Employees [ONE] course) provided by the School Nutrition Department during the first 12 months of employment as required by the Georgia Department of Education.3. Experience:Related job experience preferred.4. Physical Activities:Routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities; ability to repetitively lift items weighing a maximum of 30 lbs. unassisted and up to 50 lbs. with assistance, walk & stand continuously on hard surface floors, for up to 7.5 hours, climb ladder, stoop, bend, lift and have hands in water; ability to work extended periods in temperatures ranging from extremely hot to sub-zero; ability to tolerate work conditions while cooking, steaming, baking and sautéing; operates equipment that poses possible risk, loss or injury; utilizes cleaning chemicals in solution, aerosol and powder forms; subject to a noisy work environment5. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:The ability to follow and implement written recipes, safety procedures, and employment-related instructions as presented in English. Ability to follow written and oral instructions to effectively perform essential duties, including food preparation and meeting safety/sanitation guidelines; must have knowledge of measurement, knowledge of abbreviations, counting skills, portion control skills, calculation skills for recipe preparation, time calculation skills, basic computer skills, and excellent customer service and teamwork skills.Culinary Technician/Cashier must also have working knowledge of cash register, calculators and computer.ESSENTIAL DUTIES: 1.Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.2.Arranges food and beverage items for the purpose of serving them to students and staff in an efficient manner.3.Cleans utensils, equipment, and storage, food preparation and serving areas for the purpose of maintaining required sanitary conditions.4.Estimates food preparation amounts for the purpose of meeting projected meal requirements and minimizing waste.5.Inspects food items and supplies for the purpose of verifying quantity and specifications of orders and complying with mandated health standards.6.Inventories food items, condiments, and supplies (e.g. end of the month inventory, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring availability of items.7.Monitors kitchen and cafeteria areas for the purpose of ensuring a safe, sanitary working environment.8.Prepares food and beverage items for the purpose of meeting mandated nutritional requirements and projected meal requirements9.Prepares documentation for the purpose of providing written support and conveying information.10.Responds to inquiries of students, staff, and the public for the purpose of providing information and direction regarding the type and cost of meals.11.Serves food, using portion control policies, for the purpose of meeting mandated nutritional requirements and/or requests of students and school personnel.12.Stocks food, condiments and supplies for the purpose of maintaining adequate quantities and security of items.13.Complies with all Federal, state, county, and district regulations and policies. Complies with all food safety program (HACCP) guidelines; meets food handling standards; covers, labels, and dates food; records food, refrigerator, freezer, dry storage temperatures appropriately.14.Promotes a safe working environment; does not pose a safety risk to self or others.15.Utilizes resources, supplies, and time effectively and efficiently.16.Participates in training, in-service, and learning opportunities.17.Adheres to SNP approved dress code - uniform, gloves, hairnet, etc.18.Performs other duties as assigned by appropriate administrator.19.Culinary Tech/Cashier - Collects payments for food items from students and staff (e.g. cash, meal tickets, etc.) for the purpose of securing funds for reimbursement of costs for providing nutritional services.20.Culinary Tech/Cashier - Maintains accurate student accounts (e.g. free and reduced meal status, meal count, etc.) for the purpose of providing documentation to meet state, federal, and administrative requirements.21.Culinary Tech/Cashier - Maintains sanitation procedures in performing a job for the purpose of keeping stations clean and handles money in such a way as to prevent cross contamination.22.Culinary Tech/Cashier - Reconciles transactions for the purpose of balancing accounts and adhering to established accounting practices.The Muscogee County School District provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex (including pregnancy, gender identity, and sexual orientation), national origin, disability, genetic information, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws.
