Job Summary

Relocation Assistance & Yearly Bonus Opportunities OfferedChartwells Higher Education is seeking an exceptional and experienced General Manager to lead the dining services team at Southern Utah University. As General Manager, you will oversee operations to ensure financial success, maintain strong client relationships, and inspire professional growth among your team members. Your role will be integral in creating an exceptional dining experience while aligning with the institutions goals and vision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead employee meetings, performance reviews, and training programs.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, local, state, and federal laws.
  • Maintain food quality standards while optimizing food costs.
  • Build and sustain strong relationships with staff, clients, guests, and other departments.
  • Oversee financial reporting, including sales reports, P&L statements, and budget adherence.
  • Analyze trends in financial data and adjust strategies accordingly.
  • Manage purchasing, inventory, and operational controls.
  • Collaborate with chefs to plan innovative menus.
  • Ensure compliance with HACCP standards and proper food storage.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree (preferred) or equivalent professional experience.
  • 8-10 years upscale food service experience, including 6 years in management.
  • Proven expertise in personnel management: hiring, supervision, evaluation, and succession planning.
  • Strong leadership, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Experienced in training, scheduling, supervision, and coaching.
  • Effective problem-solving, conflict management, and multitasking skills.
  • Proficient in food purchasing, cost management, inventory control, and financial reporting (budgets, flash reports, targets, and forecasts).
  • Knowledge of HACCP controls, food storage, and compliance with health/fire regulations.
  • Strong catering experience and client relations skills.
  • Exceptional business etiquette and ethical standards.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • ServSafe or Department of Health certification is a plus.
