Women Against Abuse, the city's leading domestic violence service provider, is looking for an Experienced Food Service Cook/Kitchen Inventory Assistant!Responsibilities: The Food Service Kitchen Inventory Assistant will plan, prepare, cook and serve meals and snack to safe haven residents and their children. Some responsibilities include but are not limited to: Coordinating the rotation, inventory and stock maintenance of food; Maintain overall cleanliness of the kitchen/food storage area and dining room; Cook food from scratch and recipes; Assist management in maintaining a welcoming, safe, and supportive community environment. Comply with city, state and federal laws regarding food handling and preparation; Assist with pickup and delivery of milk weekly for each kitchen, and monthly food, donations and supplies as needed, (selecting/getting food and supplies, loading/un loading sup- plied. *First of every month will assist with food pickups and inventory (Tuesday 4 more hours at CP, Wed needy 8 hours at AP and 4 more hours at AP & CP) All responsibilities are expected to be delivered satisfactorily and with superior customer service and according to Agency standards.   • A High School Diploma or the equivalent is required.
  • Minimum two (2) years experience in food preparation, storage and cooking in institutional setting is required
  • Demonstrated knowledge of dietary menu preparation and state regulations for food preparation and storage is required.
  • Valid Driver's License required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse population is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a team member is required.
  • Demonstrated commitment to service of others is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to read, write and comprehend English is required.
  • Bilingualism is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to lift and carry 25-50 lbs (loading and unloading food and kitchen supplies from vehicle to kitchen; 2x a month will regularly load and unload food and boxes weighting 50 lbs each)
  • ServeSafe Certification and Food Handler's License strongly preferred, ServeSafe will be required along with the City Food Service License. Any related fees will be paid by WAA.
  • Will be required to attend Domestic Violence Advocate Training, post hire.
  • Satisfactory clearances - Child Abuse, Criminal and FBI at hire and on-going employment (cost covered by employer)
