The Food Service Kitchen Helper job in Exeter, NH is responsible for preparing, arranging, and serving food in a safe, clean environment, while maintaining the dining area and ensuring the quality and presentation of each meal. This position also includes responsibility for the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, including cleaning equipment and upholding sanitation standards. Additionally, you'll assist with the cleaning and sanitizing of dishes and kitchenware, housekeeping tasks, and the storage of deliveries. This role is ideal for a dependable team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment and values food safety and quality service. Schedule: Full-time, flexible hours, including nights and weekends as needed. Shifts vary, including:
- Fri-Mon, 11:30 am-8:00 pm
- Mon-Sun, 10:30 am-8:00 pm (weekend help required)
Pay: $18/hr+ DOE Start Date: ASAP Responsibilities:
- Cleaning & Sanitizing: Ensure efficient and thorough cleaning of all flatware, dishware, service ware, glassware, catering ware, pots, pans, prep tables, equipment, cabinets, and kitchen floors. Adhere to proper cleaning procedures and observe all MSDS and HAACP safety and sanitation policies.
- Food Service Support: Prepare, set up, and maintain food service areas, including hot carts and salad/sandwich/dessert bars. Ensure all foods meet HAACP standards, and assist with arranging, replenishing, and breaking down food stations as needed.
- Stocking & Inventory: Maintain an adequate supply of clean dishes, utensils, and other necessary supplies throughout meal services. Assist with deliveries, storage, and organization of food, cleaning supplies, and other goods.
- General Maintenance: Support kitchen upkeep by removing trash, recycling, and properly disposing of waste daily. Contribute to the maintenance and organization of the kitchen area, and report any broken equipment, safety hazards, or needed supplies.
- Team Collaboration: Provide housekeeping support for the kitchen and dining areas, assisting in the front of the house when necessary and working effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- 1+ years of experience in a food service or academic institution setting is a plus, especially in customer service.
- Knowledge of large-scale food service operations, cleaning methods, and equipment is beneficial.
- Experience in institutional food service, housekeeping, or working with adolescents in an educational setting is helpful.
- Ability to stand for the entire shift and maintain regular, consistent attendance with flexibility for extended hours, weekends, and holidays.
- Dependable team player with a positive attitude and strong interpersonal skills.
