Food Service Manager - Riddle School District

Riddle School District is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Food Service Manager. This position will begin July 1st, 2024, working 5 days per week, 8 hours per day, year-round.

Job Summary: Directs the district's food service program to align with county, state, and federal regulations including those pertaining to public health hand safety. Additionally, this role entails serving as a part-time kitchen lead, actively involved in daily kitchen operations.

Salary: $50,000 - $60,000 per year (depending on relevant verifiable experience)

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS This is not an exhaustive or all-inclusive list of responsibilities, skills, duties, or functions associated with the job. Full job description is attached in Applitrack.

Develops the school food service program and plans all menus which provides a practical application of sound nutrition as a means of improving the health and nutrition of students.

Supervises and evaluates food service program staff.

Serves actively as a kitchen lead in the food service program operation.

Makes application for all federal surplus food and food subsidies and is responsible for distribution.

Responsible for accurate record keeping by food service managers and the compilation of monthly meal count reports, and reports required by local, state, and federal regulations.

Informs patrons and community regarding the menus and services offered by the school cafeteria and the educational and health benefits gained by children participating in the school food service program.

Assist with interviews, screenings, and recommends the appointment of all cafeteria personnel in collaboration with building principals.

Train personnel to maintain high standards of sanitation and safety in all phases of the school food service program, including preparation, serving, and storing of food and the proper handling of supplies and equipment.

Inspects school lunch facilities and operations to ensure the standards of diet, cleanliness, health, and safety are being maintained.

Purchases all food and supplies, maintains accurate inventory, and directs the distribution of products to all kitchens.

QUALIFICATIONS

A bachelor's degree, or equivalent educational experience, with an academic major or concentration in food and nutrition, food service management, dietetics, family and consumer sciences, nutrition education, culinary arts, business, or a related field; OR

A bachelor's degree, or equivalent educational experience, with any academic major or concentration, and either a State-recognized certificate for school nutrition directors, or at least one year of relevant food service experience; OR

An associate's degree, or equivalent educational experience, with an academic major or concentration in food and nutrition, food service management, dietetics, family and consumer sciences, nutrition education, culinary arts, business, or a related field and at least one year of relevant food service experience; OR

A high school diploma or equivalent) and at least three (3) years of relevant food service experience. At the discretion of the State agency, and on an individual basis, documented relevant food service experience may be unpaid. Directors hired under this criterion are strongly encouraged to work toward attaining an associate's degree in an academic major in at least one of the fields listed above.

Working knowledge of quantity of food preparation, sanitation principals, menus planning, inventory control, record keeping, and production schedules.

Ability to secure and maintain a valid Food Handler's Card.
