Responsible for preparing main meal and vegetables as listed on the menu in amounts needed. Responsible for following all established sanitation procedures.* Assist in student/meal accountability as required in school assigned.* Assist in supervision of children during breakfast service as required in school assigned. Assist Manager in ordering food and supplies.* Responsible for preparing main entrée as required for the Breakfast Program.* Assist in preparation, serving and clean-up of meal as assigned by immediate supervisor. (Breakfast and Lunch)* Check increased main meal/ vegetable recipes as provided by the kitchen manager. Assist immediate supervisor in accountability of food and supplies used daily.* Responsible for food items to be properly stored/thawed as needed for meal preparation. Responsible for correct equipment use and reporting of needed maintenance.* Ability to work harmoniously with staff at school assigned.* Assist in supervision of assigned kitchen personnel. (Food Service Assistants & Substitutes) Check availability of supplies for next day's menu, main meal/vegetables items.* Assist in money accountability as assigned by immediate supervisor. The ability to lift and store food and food related products.* Responsible for all other job related duties as assigned.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None.QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Certificate from State Nutrition Programs, Department of Educational & Cultural Services offered cooks course. Specialized training in sanitation, food handling, safety.LANGUAGE SKILLS:Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with individuals and groups of employees.MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Knowledge of basic mathematics.REASONING ABILITY:Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:Ability to use a Personal Computer with database, spreadsheet and word-processing software. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community. Ability to speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communication.
